'Fly High Mol': 33-Year-Old Boston Father Of 2 Killed In New Year's Day Shooting

A Boston neighborhood is in mourning after a 33-year-old father of two children was shot and killed on New Year's Day, according to authorities.

Jymaal Cox, of Mattapan, was found shot to death near 1601 Blue Hill Avenue just before 6 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 1, Boston Police report. 

Responding officers also found another adult male suffering from non-life-threatening gunshot wounds in the area. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment, police said.

"Words can’t even express how heartbroken I am," one Facebook user said in response to Cox's death. "If anyone knows, they know Jymaal was like a brother/cousin/uncle/son best friend and meant a whole lot to my family."

"My deepest condolences to his family, Dee Cox, along with my sister Natasha Good with their children Samiyah and Carmen," they continued. "Fly high Mol may you rest in paradise we love you and will always miss you." 

"We are gonna miss you BABY BRO. I can’t sleep eat or even function right," Jymaal's older brother Dee said on Facebook. "My soul is hurting bad...I love you lil bro. Your kids are my kids!" 

Meanwhile, Boston Police are investigating the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact homicide detectives at (617) 343-4470.
